Beautiful locations to visit on your stand up paddle board

Where do we go when we want to unplug from everyday stress, relax and enjoy our stand up paddle board? We decided to check 665/24 iune 2008 Decision which you can find HERE and we discovered places from Romania that must be added to your bucket list – places to visit on your paddle board.

Herăstrău Lake Lake is one of the most accesible locations in Bucharest and also the ideal place to spend quality time in nature. With an area of 74 hectares and 7.4 km, Lake Herăstrău is vital for rare bird species during spring and autumn.
During your SUP rides, you will admire peacocks, finches, pigeons, as well as exotic species such as swans, white and red califar geese, caroline ducks, crab ducks, canadian geese, Magellan and Mandarin ducks.

Lake Floreasca – Bordei in Bucharest is very close to Herăstrău Lake, but it is by far a less known place. It has an area of 70 hectares and a length of 3 km. The lake is accesible through Bordei Park, of extraordinary beauty, being modernized by the City Hall. On the shore of the lake you will find a pier and a pontoon so you it will be very easy to set your board on water.

Lake Snagov is half an hour from Bucharest and it is part of the Snagov Natural Reserve, which houses rare species of fauna and flora, such as indian water lilies and white water lily. Stand up paddle boarding here you will be able to enjoy the nature’s best, to relax and get rid of everyday stress. In the Snagov Complex you can enjoy nature, forest walks or picnincs in the specially designed areas.

Lake Cernica is 14 km from Bucharest and it is part of the special avifaunistic protection area, including the Cernica Forest. The area provides habitat for different species migratory birds as well as favorable living conditions for several species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects.

Lake Comana is located in Giurgiu County, half an hour from Bucharest, and it is part of the Comana Natural Park. It is part of the Comana special protection area and shelters countless species of animals and birds. A day spent here will recharge your batteries and will also give you the opportunity to discover the wonders of nature, just a few kilometers from home. Neajlov Delta  Delta is famous for it’s narrow, reeded canals, that give you the impression that you are somewhere in the Delta and not just a few kilometers from Bucharest. It houses 141 species of birds, 19 fish species and 31 mammalian species.

Beliș Fânânele Lake is a 13 km artificial lake, located in Cluj County, surrounded by Gilau Mountains, Vladeasa Mountains and Mount Big. The landscape is incredibly beautiful and if you want to extend your expedition, you can always find accommodation in the touristic area.

Lake Tarnița is also in Cluj and it is covered in mistery and folklore. With a depth of 70 meters, it is rumored that fish of impressive sizes live here. Whether it is true or fairy tale, the lake is of a rare beauty and it is the ideal place for padle boarding.

Vidraru Lake is probably the most famous reservoir in Romania, located between the Frunții Mountains and Ghițu Mount, in Arges County. It is over 10 km long and offers unfogettable landscapes. Andrei Duță filmed part of the area and convinced us that the lake is breathtaking. See the video HERE

Izvorul Muntelui is located in Neamț County, 4 kilometers from Bicaz City and very close to Cheile Bicazului – Hasmas Natural Park. Next to the dam you will find a harbor where tourists can easily launch their SUP to water and enjoy this wonderful area

Stânca Costești Lake Lake is situated in Botoșani County and it is included in the special avifaunistic protected area of Botoșani. It hosts a huge nummber of bird species, so you will never be alone on your paddle board. The scenery is stunning, with smooth water and cool wind, so you will never forget this experience.
