Competitions and SUP events in Europe

Although in Romania its a relatively new sport, stand up paddle boarding has a history in countries such as Denmark, Norway, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Spain and the UK. Also,in these countries we find competitions and grand slam events,some of them being awarded up to 20,000 euros.

The events are dedicated to both professionals and amateurs who want an active lifestyle and who love this sport.
Below you will find some of these competitions which you can participate in, as the the registration lists are open!

San Sebastian Paddle Tour , Spain 31 May – 2nd of June

San Sebastian is a superb place in the northern part of Spain, famous for its beaches with a picturesque seafront promenade and world famous restaurants. The most famous beaches are Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta.

The competitions are dedicated to amateurs and professionals, both female and male, but also junior, all of them sharing prizes worth 7000 euros.

Iberdola Bilbao, Spain – World SUP Challenge 7 – 9 June

A city known for Iberola Tower, a modern building shaped as an isosceles triangle with curved shapes and impressive architecture, hosts the World Sup Challenge, an event dedicated to professionals and amateurs. The main course, dedicated to professionals, is 14 km long, followed by the amateur junior race, 6 km and the sprint race, open to amateurs and juniors.

Corfu Emerald Cup 2019, Greece, 15 – 16 June

Corfu, the emerald island of the Ionian Sea, one of the most beautiful tourist areas in Greece, with a special beauty, hosts an event dedicated to professionals, from 15th to 16th of June, with prizes worth 12,000 EURO. The big winners will go home with a prize of 2500 euros.

Agion Nikolas on SUP 2019, Crete, Greece 22 – 23 June

Crete, the largest island in Greece, is known for its diverse landscapes, from fine sand beaches from Elafonisi to the White Mountains. This year will be the location for a Grand Slam Event of SUP, with prizes of 12,000 EURO. Competitions are divided into race of 3 km, 5 km, 200 meters sprint and fitness paddle.

Prague SUP Race, Czech Republic, 6 – 7 July

Prague, or the city of the 100 bell towers, hosts numerous cultural attractions and has become one of the most popular destinations in Europe. It is an important cultural center, and the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Between July 6 and July 7, there will be a SUP Grand Slam event, dedicated to professionals, with prizes up to 4500 EURO. The event will also hold a tour for fundraising, parties and concerts, exhibitions and awards ceremony.

Battle of the Coast, Olanda, Zandvoort, 12 – 14 July

Being a highly developed tourist resort, there are no activities you can not do in Zandvoort. There are plenty of opportunities to go surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kitesurfing or practicing any aquatic sports. In the evening you can ride a bike or visit the sand dunes.

Battle of the Coast is an event dedicated to PRO juniors and elite racers and is very fun. Depending on the weather, races and surf races will be organized, and the party will be guaranteed.

SUP World CUP Scharbeutz, Germany, 6 – 8 September

A very animated city, both in summer and winter, Scharbeutz promotes a relaxed lifestyle. With its large beaches and white sands, the Baltic Sea offers an impressive landscape. Between September 6 and 8, the city will host a grand slam event with prizes worth 20,000 euros, dedicated to professionals.
